Head Lice

Now that is the title of an E-Mail that you know you don't want to open! ARGH! A girl on brooke's softball team was just found to have head lice, so they sent out a notice to all of the parents to check our kids. WHAT! Of course, they just had practice on THURSDAY where they SHARED the at bat helmets. QUICK- someone smart do the calculations. If one girl had lice and there were 4 helmets and Brooke batted three different times, what are the chances that she didn't wear the same helmet as the other little girl. Hmmmm, zero. That's what I thought.

Lice remind me of ticks- and I think that if I were Heavenly Father I wouldn't have cast out Satan into a snake, he would have been made headlice. See, head lice can't live with out us, and they thrive on us, and they work harder on the heads that are clean.

Speaking of ticks. Does anyone know how badly I hate ticks???? I remember going hiking up Blacktail the summer before Blair and I got married and everyone came home with tons of them. It was gross. Kneeling down for family prayers I remember that RIGHT in the middle of the prayer Steph started screaming and batting at her head. Seems that her hair had fallen down in front of her eyes and she had opened them and seen a tick crawling in her hair. It's funny now- at least to me!

Are rice crispy treats okay to feed your kids for breakfast?

SNOW? Seriously?

I know, this probably isn't the place to put my rantings about the weather. And this has nothing to do with global warming, it is just the lament of a mother trying to keep her closets clean and her children warm! The last 3 days it's been in the mid 30's in the morning and 70's by the afternoon. Quite a challenge when you are getting kids off to school and you know for the first 2 recesses they are outside it's going to be in the 40's and quite cold, but by afternoon they are going to be shedding every layer and running around in short sleeves. By Wed. though, we're supposed to be in the 40's for our high's and Thursday they are telling us to expect snow. It's easier to dress my kids for school- just put their parka back on, but my poor closets! The kids are trying to pull out their shorts and short sleeve shirts, swim suits, etc. and yet I still have to have all of the winter stuff out. We now have summer and winter pj's bulging out of our drawers, and the kids closets look like I am trying to start a second hand store. I know- for half of you this is an incomprehensible problem, one you won't trouble yourself with for a while (if ever...but your WIVES will!). I just wanted to say...
NO MORE SNOW!
Maybe living in VA isn't such a bad idea after all....

What??????

A conversation with Emily goes like this "Mom, I want a new butt".
I say "what"?
Again "mom I want a new butt".
I ask "a new butt"? By this time I am confused but she is totally serious.
She replies "yes, a big butt like yours". Then she walks away leaving me with my jaw on the floor.

The Blind Side

Have you seen this? Because if you haven't, you should. It is good and almost squeaky clean.

I propose a belated Josh day

I have been busy, so I know this is late, but I just wanted to wish Josh a happy birthday! This picture is Josh picking up dog poop out of our yard so we could have marshmallow wars at Mike's homecoming. The bag is full of marshmallow's, despite what you might have thought.

Picture Ideas?

Jeff introduced me to Akward Family Photos.com several months ago. And the web site just cracks me up. They are always adding new pictures, so when I am having a bad day I can jump on and get a quick pick me up. This picture especially made me laugh. Do you think that Liz and Mike will go for it? The even funnier thing- it looks like a temple in the background....and who else would do something so cheese? Crazy Mormons!

Yummy Salad

Yummy salad

1 small vanilla cook and serve pudding
1 small tapioca cook and serve pudding
1 small flavor of choice Jell-O
3 c. water
Corresponding fruit (drained if needed)
1 small container of Cool Whip

Combine puddings, Jell-O, and water in a medium size sauce pan. Bring to a boil for 3 min. Pour into a serving bowl. Cool.
Add Cool Whip and fruit. Cool completely to set. Enjoy.

* I made this with strawberries but my favorite is with orange Jell-O and mandarin oranges.

PLEASE READ- your info is out there...

I was just alerted by a friend about a new (?) website that she found that has an alarming amount of info on people. Just on a search you can find zip code, age, income, number of people in family, relationships to other people, etc. For a couple of bucks a month you can find out a ton more... I searched our family and have found mom, dad, Alisha, Greg, Mike, Brian, Blair, Adam, Stephani is listed as Stephani U Mattson and is linked through Adam (even says that you have lived on Wrangler street for 3 years), Josh (you are on here w/ a map and driving directions to your exact house and address....ARGH!), maybe Jeff, but I don't know your exact address. Either way, I have already deleted Blair's info and made sure that I and my kids are not listed on here. You may be okay with this, and if so ignore me- but I thought you would want to know so you can make it "go away" also. Love you guys!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILINE!

HEY! We missed offering tribute to the cutest pig-tailed two year old in the world! I am sure it's that her dad was so buys, but since he didn't post it, I feel the need to shout it out to the world that we love Emiline. How lucky for their family to have such a sweet little girl. I haven't met her yet, but I am so thankful for SKYPE, because she and Dane both like it so much. I hope that as she grows up I can find a way to keep her knowing how much we all love her! BIG OLD SMOOCH from the old aunt. I love you Emiline!

Where the wild things are

I really, really, really liked this movie. A lot. I nearly cried. And I was frightened a little, too.
